As soon as you are off pain meds and your mind is clear.

I was in the hospital about 31 hours. Got home. took liquid hydrocone for about 2 nights just to sleep. Never had any real pains, just couldn't lay comfortably on my stomach. Was up and about and driving within 3 days of surgery.

Oye ... everyone's tolerance for pain is going to be different. What is your history with pain meds and surgical procedures? First timers seem to be on them longer while surgical vets sometimes don't even use them at all. Tylenol and rest is all they use. I'm in the middle, there. I was on liquid loritab for 4 days, then transitioned to tylenol for a couple days.

Same here. No pain meds as soon as I was awake from surgery I refused them. I was driving on the way home. Everyone is different

Took pain meds first day in hospital a cpl times.. next day I hit the morphine pump 2xs.. then nothing after that. Not even a tylenol. Thats made me more nauseous the the sleeve/gallbladder surgery itself. ...anyways I was driving 2 days postop

Stop morphine and drove myself home from the hospital. I don't like riding in my families trucks they are sucky drivers ;)

I'm 5 days post op and i had crazy pain on one of incisions while driving. I'm not sure if it was the position i was sitting or it was because i was using my leg to brake and accelerate but dam it hurt like hell. Anyone gone through this?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
