Is there anything I can do? I thought it was unsafe to vomit alot with the band but what do you do when this happens? I am miserable, my stomach hurts really bad and i am heeving trying to throw up alot. Any suggestions or help? iwas banded in July and this is the first time I have been sick like this!!

Maybe try an anti-emetic medication? I can't remember the name of it, but I know there's something that you can take for nausea. I know you probably don't want to contact a doc today since it's Sunday, but maybe you can check with a pharmacist? I hope you feel better soon.

First of all, I'm sorry that you're feeling so poorly. Hopefully it passes quickly. Well, you might want to get a call into your band doc's office just because you are throwing up often right now. They might have some suggestions or might want you to come in for an unfill for a few days.

Next, they make chewable anti-nausea medicine that you might want to send someone out to get for you. You're right, we should avoid throwing up but in your situation there probably isn't much you can do about it. So, I would suggest going with it and if you must throw up then try to make it as non-violent as possible, don't fight it. That's about all I can think to suggest.

Remember to keep hydrated and call that doc ASAP!! Good luck and hope you feel better soon.

PS-

Here is a link to that medicine I was talking about: http://www.americarx.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=36515

It's called "Nauzene" and I can find it at my local drugstore.

A solution for vomiting that is less common but easy in liquid form is benadryl. My physician says it is the best thing next to a prescription suppository. I have used it and it immediately stops vomiting. You do sleep for awhile but if you are sick you probably won't mind that too much. Take the maximum dose you are able to then slow down after the first dose. Works wonders.

oh how I feel you right now! I have the same bug! I spent the morning in the ER on an IV. they gave me Phenergen, not sure how to spell it but i think that's what they called it. i worked so great, but knocked me out! My husband and kids are also sick, so it was not a fun day. Tomorrow we will have a lot of cleaning to do. the baby only vomited on the carpet it seemed, the rest of the house has tile and she kept getting the carpet! yuck. yuck. yuck. I was just thinking how it would affect me when i am banded. I get banded next monday so thankfully I caught it this week and not as I was healing. sorry to hear that you are sick with the band.

Ooooh, you poor thing! That's my worst nightmare, my family had gastro 3 days after I got home from being banded. I took an anti emetic medication for 3 days. I did get sick, but I had no nausea or vomiting, just temperatures and feeling awful. It pays to keep some on hand.

Preventatively I had my doctor give me a Rx for a liquid anti-emetic/anti-nausea. Can't remember the name, but it's really dark and fairly opaque.

Hope I never need it, but like the peace of mind that comes with knowing it's there. Call your doc, it's something they're probably willing to just phone in for you.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
