Runnin' Down a Dream... Headed to Mexicali

Recommended Posts

Oh Amanda... so sorry you are having to stay an extra night but glad they are keeping a close eye on you. I thought that Yolanda or a representative for Dr. Aceves was always available in the hospital to speak to? (That is fluent in English) When I was goiing to be going alone... Nina said someone would always be available close by? I am glad I am taking Gracie with me... especially if that is not the case. Well... I am glad to be taking her anyway! I hope you feel better soon and that you get to go home to your family tomorrow.

Heart rate regulated now. Dr. Campos is keeping me an extra night for observation.

Amanda Rae

I'm glad they're keeping an eye on you. I have had bouts of SVT also, none for almost three years. But I have to get an A-Ok from my cardiologist before heading to Mexico next week. Did you get any idea how it was triggered? Did you have to get "elephant on your chest" drug to stop it, or did your heart regulate on its own? Becky

It started off as SVT but switched over to a-fib. Second time in my life that's happened. I think I over did it yesterday, walking. I walked several city blocks to the mall during the heat of the day. Not my brightest move. They were able to regulate me through the night with medicine and are keeping me around to be safe. And because I'm so darn charming! ;-)

Taking it easy today. Still sipping and walking, but staying close to home base.

I happened in the middle of the night when Yolanda and Gail were gone. They were able to find an English speaking nurse really fast, but when you're starting to panic it seems like an entire ocean to cross to make the connections.

Essential Spanish phrases to translate for hospital stay...

Does this gown make me look fat?

Does my hair look like a rooster?

How awesome for you! The time somehow managed to fly by and drag at the same time.

I will totally try and properly relay this experience when I'm home.

I'm excited to hear all about your experiences to. Everyone's experiences are so motivational and inspiring. Whether its a picture perfect trip or a ride with a Detour or two. We are brave and strong. We are survivors beginning the next chapter in our lives. Don't forget that!

I use humor and wit to deflect my nerves. Lol!

The team has been great. So personable. So compassionate.

At the San Diego Airport. Still walking and sipping (VitaminWater Zero). Burping then rest. Repeat.

Gotta walk while you can! I'm pretty sure they are going to object if you try to pace in the plane! Keep sipping and enjoy your flight home. :) Congrats on getting the all clear!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
