I think you should check out the "Complications" and "Life after the Band" sections of this forum. I think you can learn more about regrets from reading older threads than asking the question anew because those who have regrets tend not to stay on the forum. I have seen people ask this MANY times, but please understand that human nature is such that those who are enthusiastic at this time are the most likely to answer.

And please, when someone has "No regrets" and has only been banded a year or so, take that into consideration.

Not one single regret, never for a second. This has been perfect for me and has worked, and I've been really really lucky to have a really tolerant band and stomach so I've never had problems with getting stuck, vomiting etc, its never happened to me. I've also not had to give up one single food.

The minor compliants related to weight that I was starting to experience have disappeared, I'm completely hooked on running and I'm nearly at goal weight.

I just got approved today and may schedule my surgery really fast to do it over the holidays while i have a bunch of time off. I too am a little nervous but being in the same boat that you are - mid 30's and needing to loose about 100 lbs. is there any conceivable way that you or I could do it on our own - no way!! So, here we are - given this incredible gift - which will be paid for by our insurance - we better grab the bull by the horns and do this so we will have a long, productive, healthy life! So let's do it and let's learn to eat healthier and less! I'm dreading the pre-op fast and the pain of the post-op but I will do it with a smile because I finally see a light at the end of this tunnel! Hang in there!!

I am a self pay and would do it again in a heartbeat. I have found the help I need to keep the weight off when I get it off.

I couldn't be happier.

I couldn't be happier.

And I would have said the EXACT SAME THING 1-2-3-4-5-6-7, even 8 months out. In fact if I searched the archives I could probably find messages where I said something like that.

Two and a half years later I am not so enthusiastic. My initial success has turned into yet another failure.

Asking newly banded people if they regret their decision is like asking newlyweds if they regret getting married.

Get out the salt.

Kare, what do you mean? Are there things that go wrong for folks who ahve had the band for a while, or are you just tired of the whole experience? I am waiting for insurance approval, and so I am nervous about it....and wanting to be fully informed. What would you change if you could do it over?

Uh yes. Please read some of the threads on lapband complications and life after band removal. Do a search for "slippage" and "erosion."

It does seem to work for some people so I hate to discourage anyone, but it is SURGERY and it is EXPENSIVE so please be aware of the negative experiences many have had.

How has your experience been? I ahve read a lot about erosion, and have looked at a lot of polls. Maybe there hsould be a thread for "mature" banders, who ahve been banded for over two years or soemthing?

NOT A SINGLE ONE!!! Would do it again tomorrow!! Will take my band to my grave after I use it for the next 45 years!!!

Sitting in the surgeons office waiting for a fill I met 10 patients who had their bands all for more than 4 years!! They were all thrilled. I was the baby bandster and the virgin for a fill. I feel very fortunate to have been able to talk to those individuals for the hour we all waited together. I am not considering that I could have complications- I know that exists as a possiblilty, Im not stupid however the power of positive thinking will prevail!! Dont dwell on the negative. Do it for the positive, move on and take each day as it comes. The incidence of complications is less than 4%- except on this board where it will be higher because those people have sought out info. NONE of the individuals I spoke with were aware of this board!

Now that my band is in a baggie in my guest room and I've been revised to the DS and I've lost about 93 pounds in a year...nope...no regrets...except waiting so long to have the band removed.

Well...that and I think I've become a clothes whore. Who KNEW I'd ever own $100 jeans?!?

Absolutely - I have many 'regrets' although I hate to admit it - I never want to regret anything in life as I try to not 'go there'. However, i really wish I hadn't done it - definitely read the other suggested threads as it's true - those of us who are unhappy or 'regret' the band don't tend to post alot/often - for me, it just reinforces my lack of success. Although the support and encouragement here has pulled me up out of the dumps more than i can say - without this site i would have lost my mind by now!

No regrets for me so far...nope!

I feel better already, I don't have to take prilosec anymore, no more IBS, I am more aware of what feels good in my body and I care about myself more. I am far less depressed than I used to be and I quit smoking. So...I am thankful for so much that has happened as a result of my band, besides the 26 pounds that I have lost!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
