How is it looking now? Are you healing okay?

It looks exactly the same except now there is a huge red rash around it from the bandage, apparently I was allergic. I'm going in this Thursday to get the stitches out.

Kat - you are so funny. It's hardly that gross. Are your friends really freaked out by it?

Hate those bandage adhesives... I am alergic, too.

Hugs!

I too am allergic to adhesives. Some of the worst pain I felt around the surgery was when they pulled the Patches off, and my skin went with them. :)

Incision looks great - healing nicely. :)

The softies at work get all grossed out just when I talk about it. I asked one of them to come in the bathroom and help me change the bandage, and she couldnt do it. Some of my students found it fasinating though!

I finally took the bandages off, and I started putting a pillow case over it...and using my boobs to hold it in place (reason #254 for saggy boobs) :heh: And the last 2 days I have just gone with out a bandage because my skin couldn't take it any more... I get the stitches out tomorrow...whoo hoo!

well this isn't my first port incision, this is the incision from the revision surgery. my first one looked a lot worse too.

I'm dissapointed the doc only took out 2 stitches, put on 4 steri strips and told me to come back next week to get the rest of the stitches out, bummer. :speechles

I'm so lucky....my scars are visible but don't look too bad at all.....my port incision is very thin and still slightly purple.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
