Talk about a last minute approval from insurance!

Recommended Posts

O I just got a email from my patient advocate that my secondary insurance finally approved my surgery. My surgery is Monday the 18th. Talk about waiting until the last minute!! But I am so glad they finally pulled through because that means its going to save me a ton of money. Now I can concentrate on more important things!! Feeling very excited, and nervous !

Congratulations! Sending prayers and positive energy your way! My surgery is April 1st and I've known since the middle of February. My papers were submitted and approved the same day. which was a real shocker. I'm nervous about waiting. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!

I have had a year riding this roller coaster with my insurance it has not been easy. I just kept at it re-submitting with more documentation and if they asked for one thing I gave them two! I was actually scheduled for surgery march 11th and got a call from the insurance that they wanted one more thing from my doctor, before they could resubmit for approval. So that pushed my surgery off until the 18 th. tthistles tray they put a stat order on my submital and I heard back today at aroundv4:30! I think I just wore them down!! Glad to hear you process went much easier! I am just glad that it finally happened. Good luck on your April date!!

I really don't understand why the insurance companies give such a hard time , at the end it will be the same result . Approved!! why the heartache and the B.S . When someone decides WLS is needed we are willing to jump run and go through anything to get the surgery . You can't shoot us down we wanna be alive again not jailed in our bodies. Congrats on your approval. You saw it thru for an entire year and it will be worth every struggle .

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
