During recovery the first 6 weeks out is it necessary to have someone at home with you to help? The reason I am asking is becasue my helper may no longer be available. I've had 2 c-sections, one of which was like the old fashioned cut straight down your stomach, so I'm no stranger to pain. I'm just wondering if the pain will be so much that I really will need a helper.

I live by myself and was fine a week after surgery except for a little soreness. Someone stayed with me the first week. I don't think you're going to need help for 6 weeks but of course I'm basing this on my experience as a single person with no kids. I don't know how you moms do it at all, much less after surgery! :)

I would have been fine alone. My hubby took 2 days off so he was with me the first 2 days but I didn't really "need" him. It depends on how old your kids are. If they are self sufficient you should be fine, if they are still toddlers you might want to line up some help for the first few days. But not 6 weeks

I only really needed someone to drive me home. After that I could do anything else by myself. Make sure to fill your prescription before surgery, and do your shopping for your shakes and pudding and anything else you are allowed by your doc right before you go. You should be fine. Good luck! :)

My blood pressure & blood sugar kept dropping and I'd get very dizzy & lightheaded. I'm 2 weeks 3 days post op and still haven't been cleared to drive.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
