Six months out and pain in right side about a level 7

Recommended Posts

First off i think i screwed up i ate some coleslaw that had poppy seeds in it (did not notice actually my husband saw them first) and have been feeling pain since. if i am laying down i'm ok and if i dont eat anything the pain is not as bad maybe a 3 or 4 but if i eat it seems to increase to a 6 or 7 and i notice i am holding my right side below my ribs but above my bellybuttom. it has been three days i dont want to be a big baby about it and my surgeon is three hours away so i was hoping it would just pass...what do you guys think can poppy seeds cause this? should i just go a few more days and see how it goes maybe just stick to protien drinks to see if it eases up? thanks in advace.

Gallbladder? Your PCP or hospital can check. If pain is at a 7, I wouldn't wait for a few days.

Gallbladder pain won't go away with repositioning. Does it come and go? Or is it always hurting? That is the right area for the pain to be, as well as the fact that it gets stronger when you eat. Sounds like its time to get in to see the doc...better safe then sorry.

My gallbladder pain came and went. It hurt more after a meal with high fat. After about 30-45 minutes it wouldn't hurt as bad and was in the same place you are describing.

I had the exact same thing! I had a contact dull sensation in my right upper quadrant. I had a few episodes of severe pain. I went and got a hida scan and an ultrasound yesterday and wouldn't ya know, lots of stones and blockage! The ct in the er only showed sludge. Call ur surgeon and get an ultra sound.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
