Why am I a Slowwwwwwwww loser?

Recommended Posts

kmoore you are doing awesome girl, i so feel you on NSV. my dr at my 6 month check up told me the average lost is 60lbs in 6 months i was 6lbs shy, but when i showed her my before and after she was blown away. its not always about the numbers on the scale its the NSV and how you look and feel. i also researched my body type which is pear shape and all my fat is in my lower body unlike the apple who is in the middle. so i think its called substatious fat, if i am spelling it right and it is the toughest to lose.

dar have you called your nut. what are you eating are you getting in Water are you taking supplements. i noticed when i stopped taking my Calcium the scale stopped and i found out my d was low. once i started both of them back the scale started moving. but its stuck again. but the dr said it will come off in waves. call your nut

To Newgrandmother: why are you so self righteous?

You post on here about OOHH how you are a slow loser, yet when someone(butterbean) who has been VERY successful at weight loss offers their insight you lambast him!! I truly feel sorry for you. I don't think you are eating right(I have read many of your posts) eat way to many carbs and calories and are now way past the 6 month mark. Take advise/criticism as it comes and use it to your benefit or not, but don't lash out at someone who is just trying to help you because NGM you obviously are not RIGHT!

I know why I'm slow now :) and why I am getting a Rny in June. Long story short I need the Rny for the metabolic reset. 6 months only down 35 lbs and not lost weight for 12 weeks and 14 weeks for inches. It is so true that everyone is Different and we all work in odd different ways. After more test then I can count and doing my best and seeing Countless number of specialists I'm ok with knowing why and how to fix it.

Are you not, sort of, doing what you're accusing her of? I think we should be here to encourage and not tear down. There's a biblical saying paraphrased... Get the log out of your own eye before pointing out the splinter in your neighbor's

I say lets start ignoring the posts we feel are negative and perhaps they will go away. It seems to be happening way too often. Over the crazies posting crazy stuff!

Anywho back to newgrandmother, on a separate note I too upped my carbs a few weeks ago and have seen a steady loss. Course my arse is not interested but hey it is what it is! Per my scale I am staying well hydrated ;)

I am only giving her MY opinion which I have the right to do/or not. I am far from being rude as I have have read in her posts, to those just trying to help. As I said she can take what I say or not; but understand it is coming from a sleever who has been very successful AND reached her goal weight. I won't encourage those who blame everything/one else on why they are not losing weight, she needs to be accountable; to be successful.

I suggest everyone calm down and tame the arguing.

Weight loss is not easy, whether you have surgery or not. There is no one method that works for everyone. Just because something worked for "John" doesn't mean it will work for "Jane". Our bodies are all different, and we cannot and should not compare our losses to anyone else. Look at my stats, and how far out I am, I am one of the slowest losers I know. But that's okay, I am still over 100 pounds down from when I started and still rocking my sleeve. I'm not in this to win a race, I'm in this to get and stay healthy.

This is why I am OVER this forum, some people that reach goal in 6 months think the rest of us are eating twinkies over here! I am so sick of the self righteous folks on this forum that put the "slow losers" down. I bust my butt in the gym before and after my sleeve. NGM mentioned increasing carbs and adding healthy fats not drinking beer and eating bread. People are so insensitive to those if us that have a different journey that may not be as "easy" when the weight doesn't just fall off the instant gratification is not there so choices become even more challenging. This forum is not encouraging at all and only to those deemed as successes. I don't think we need it crammed down out throat every other post how fast someone got to goal. I am so over it.....

Hey Chica!

There's just as many of us that will cheer you on 1lb at at time. Busting your butt in the gym is something to be proud of and I bet you have a really strong core! Don't give up - just keep moving forward.

Thanks Kirk, I have taken a backseat on the forums and have decided to take down all my personal data. I am so tired of seeing people get beat down. I do that to myself enough.

On another note I have been researching subcutaneous fat for us pear shapes and talked to my NUT about it and we do tend to be slower losers. So yeah I have been cursed or blessed with hips and ass depending on how one views it. My husband would say blessed!

I don't really know what kind of loser I am, slow or fast, but I am a loser!

I think upping your carbs for a small time frame can jump start your weight loss again not because it is more carbs, but because it is a change! I don't, personally, agree that this will work in the long run unless you are extremely active etc. I am also a pear shape and have never lost any significant amount of weight with a moderate intake of carbs. I even joined weight watchers, followed my point system to a tee and gained 5 pounds!!! I eventually figured out that my body losses weight best on a low carb diet...of course the definition of low carb varies. My nut said stay below 100 grams a day and I will stay in fat burning mode. I rarely eat that many carbs because I just don't want to. Most people who are over weight have issues with carbs...good, bad...ugly! It's not a door I want to open just yet.

Any sort of change is going to shock your body. As far as losing slowly, that might just be the way it is for those individuals. Stalling I think is a whole different story.

If stalling is causing weight loss to be show, then there are lots of things to try like calorie cycling, changing workout routine etc.

I just had a training session on wednesday and I've lost a pound a day since seeing her. I usually lose 3-4 pounds a week then stall. She really pushed me hard and I had serious doms for a few days. To put it in perspective, I workout 4-5 times a week weight training and doing cardio and I've hit many stalls. Changing up my routine had a major impact.

As long as I'm a loser ... that's all I care about. Yes, it's been slow, but I'm not going to stray from the healthy eating habits I plan on continuing for the rest of my life. My wls journey is a life long weight loss not a race to my goal weight loss

I just want to thank NGM for starting this thread, being a S-L-O-W loser can be very frustrating. It took me ten days post up just to lose my weight gain from surgery. The irony of going through the surgery and my weight being up was heartbreaking. But now the scale is starting to move and I know I've done the right thing for myself. This a life changing decision and its not so important to get there first but to get there and stay there. God bless you all and it is nice to know that I'm not alone and sharing my struggle with all of you.

I use to consider myself an hourglass until I wrote down my measurements just before surgery! I am officially pear shaped. I have lost 3 sizes on top and one on the bottom. 'My body's too bootylicious for ya babe'! Smh...ha ha

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
