I'm newly sleeved and I was wondering what foods are hard for you personally to digest? I've heard random foods like ground meat, chicken, lettuce..etc.

I am almost 4 months post op and still have a hard time with, broccoli, corn, and garbanzo Beans. I have yet to try lettuce. Steak is difficult for me to digest. I can eat it but it feels real heavy. It's funny I can eat refried beans... Or even whole boiled beans.. But garbanzo beans no way.

I am on soft foods and not really having a problem. While on puree I tried some smoked chicken breast pureed with BBQ Sauce. I was able to eat it, then it set like a brick in my stomach. I didn't get sick, but I sure didn't like the heavy feeling. Tonight I went out to eat with my husband. We had mexican. I ordered a chicken enchillada with the sour cream sauce on the side. When it came out I scraped the salad off the plate. I scraped the chicken out of the corn tortilla and poured a little sour cream sauce over the chicken. I ate small bites with a spoon. It tasted awesome and I had no problem. I might of had an ounce of chicken, very little cheese and sauce. Good luck. I haven't had any issues. I normally measure a 1/2 cup food and most of the time I can eat all of that and then I am done.

I seem to have a cast Iron sleeve at 6 months out. I try to stay away from white flour items though as a couple of bite and it sits like a brick. And I have a crazy reaction to too much sugar, I get flaming hot, break out in sweats and get nauseated.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
