I hardly have any Protein HELP

Recommended Posts

What you said is good advice. I'm almost 3 years out and I STILL keep an on line food log. I also measure or weigh all my food when I'm eating at home. Eating out is a little trickier. I started using fitday.com prior to surgery but just a few days ago, I started tracking on myfitnesspal.com I like them both, they are different, but not. :) I just want to make sure to keep track of Protein and calories. It's my new way of life. I'm in control.

Great to hear from a "veteran"! And it's good to know that the good habits we are developing during our "honeymoon phase" of the first 6 months to 1 year serve us well in the long run!

I weight my food at home too. As my calorie intake has increased, I find that my "eyes are too big" for my stomach more and more often. But if I weigh out my portions, I'm satisfied and not tempted to overeat.

As to eating out, I do my best to research the menu online beforehand if I know were we are going and it's available. That way I know what I'm ordering without touching the menu and not tempted by the marketing and "drool-inducing" pictures, etc.! Plus I always ask for a take-out container at the same time I'm ordering. They bring it with the meal and I immediately pack 70-80% of the meal. Left-overs (x 2) are great and economical, and I still get to clean my plate! No "is everything alright?" questions when I've only just "touched" my meal........

I have read so many times about asking for a 'to go' container ahaed of time, but I've never done it. I need to remember. Many times my husband and I share. I do like to bring home some for another meal or two. It's nice, especially when he's going to be leaving town for a day or two!

I am sooooo glad to know I'm not the only one who find the on line menu and nutrition information before leaving the house!! I seldom EVER walk in without seeing a menu and knowing something about it ahead of time. I have also gotten into the habit of asking them to not brush it with butter, whatever it is. It seems like butter is brushed on almost everything. We went for Breakfast the other morning and I ordered two scrambled eggs, and thought to ask if they'd be scrambled in butter. She said yes, but they can use spray instead. I do have them bring butter on the side if I am going to have toast. My husband gets it dry and I just want a half a piece. I like a TINY bit on mine, so when on the side, I control how much is added. :)

I asked a similar question the other day and fellow sleevers suggested PB2. Its a powdered Peanut Butter protien. You can mix it with protien shakes or in yogurt. I ordered it on Amazon and it has great reviews. Good luck!

I bought some too this week. I haven't tried it yet though. I haven't had time to make yogurt, so I finally stopped this morning and picked up some Yoplait 2x greek vanilla honey yogurt to try it with. Can't wait til tomorrow! :D

Can you describe what the Isopure tastes like? I want to try different Proteins but you know how expensive they are and I don't want to waste money and product.

Hard to describe. Vitamin Shoppe sells a single bottle for like $3.50. Worth a shot.

Buy a single bottle and try it. Doesn't taste great but I have had a lot worse. If you mix it with apple juice or gatoraide it's fine. I am drinking that as we speak/type.

What flavor? Is it unflavored?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
