Hi guys,

So I had my one week post op appt today and my surgeon was concerned due to my elevated heart rate. It was 115 and he stated they don't want it over 100. He also said I was dehydrated due to not getting in the appropriate 64oz.of fluids which I have honestly been trying but failing miserably. If it wasn't for sugar free popsicles I don't know what I would do. So anyway he proceeds to tell me that I need to cut the fat free and sub for regular when it comes to the popsicles and milk and yogurts, etc because my body needs more nourishment. He said he understood I was trying to work my sleeve but that I may be doing too good...just to give my stats

Starting weight he recorded-281 lbs.(highest weight was 297)

SW-267.2(lost 14 on pre op Atkins diet)

Left hospital-270.3(water weight gain of 3lbs.)

12 days post op-251.0

Total weight loss from surgery =19lbs. in 12 days....overall weight loss =30 lbs.

I'm very excited with these results however I do not want to be hospitalized for lack of nourishment. Any advice of what you guys were eating on a daily basis at 2 weeks out with be greatly appreciated. I have looked at other posts but would really love a breakdown of a typical menu for those who are two weeks out. I was approved today to go to purees. Thoughts? Thanks!

I'm still on full liquids til Thursday. I make sure I get in 60-80 grams of Protein and drink at least 8 cups of Water. Since my surgery date, 12 days ago, I've lost 5 pounds which I'm very happy about. when I start my puree stage, I plan on continuing with a Protein Drink and pureeing Protein foods to make sure I get the correct amount in. Having greek yogurt or cottage cheese is good.

Don't get discourage if the scale moves up some when you get yourself hydrated. It'll only be Water weight. I am constantly sipping water all day long to make sure i get enough. Don't sacrifice your health to see the scale move faster. Think of slow and steady means less saggy skin. good luck with getting in all your Proteins and fluids.

2 weeks out I was still on full liquids - no cottage cheese or eggs then. I was doing my Protein shakes, 2 a day made with 8 oz milk each, maybe some cream of wheat for Breakfast, and creamed Soups for lunch and dinner, mostly. I was able to eat a full cup of creamed Soup if it was a thinner consistency, but only 1/4 - 1/2 cup of the cream of wheat.

Water is really important! I've been getting at least 6 cups a day, but I really try to shoot for 8 or more.

On my puree stage here is some of my intake.. Protein Drink (twice daily), eggs or Egg whites, scrambled than mashed with fork. Egg drop Soup from Chinese restaurant (I did not blend, just ate it as is). Low fat cream Soups. Jello, Cottage cheese, Yogurt, 1/2 banana mashed, apple sauce. tuna with a bit of low fat mayo, and put in blender, mashed potato's.. Hope this helps.. good luck, you will do great!

Sounds like you are doing great. I have a difficult time getting in fluids. I am two weeks out today. I am having Soups, there are some good lowfat soups. We use a Nutri-bullet to liquify. I use Premier Protein shakes (30g Protein each). I take in half of one sipping slowly or put in the freezer until soft frozen, sugar free popsicles. I have lost 24 lbs since pre-op Dr. Appointment on 2/12, sleeved 2/19.

Sip your liquid all day, keep up with the protein. I use My Fitness Pal to keep up with my intake daily. I am not pushing myself following my Bariatric Manual received from the program at the hospital I had my surgery at.

Good luck.

Hmmm how is adding sugar going to nourish your body?

Stick with sugar free everything

As far as fat free... I never worried about that

Start sipping your Water first thing in the morning and maybe add your favorite flavor to make it easier. Dehydration is really bad so you want to stay hydrated!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
