Recommended Posts

HI all I am new here and I ahve been doing so well on my liquid diet.... however today..... everyone was passing out the sees candy and I succumed to my old self.... wel, not actually before i would have had 5 ... I took 1 piece ... took 5 bites to eat it and I sucked on each one so it would melt ...!!! I know - what a dissapointment in myself I have -

Do you thing anything will happen to me and my sleeve ?

Have any of you eaten anything off the liquid portion period .. Like cream of broccoli Soup...does anybody eat the broccoli as long as they chew it up realy good ?

Please help- I hope I haven't blown it

Thanks

My surgeon had us strain cream of anything Soup during the full liquid period to get out any chunks or solids--even pureed Soups.< /p>

It's called the liquid phase....not the chew it up really good phase. Strain your Soups until you are onto that phase. Just because it didn't kill one person does not mean it won't kill another.

Like crossing the road Iggy! :P

Op, leaving chocolate to melt in your mouth isn't going to kill you but it might be sabotaging yourself.

If it was an isolated thing, don't sweat it and get back with the program. If you think it's old habits creeping in already, you might want to talk to someone about it.

Good luck!

Iggy's right, liquid is liquid. The 'chew it up really good' phase is usually a few weeks away for most.

Do you get a diet from your Doc?

i think your sleeve will survive but kick the guilt to the curb and get on program.

this is the hardest time...at least for me it was....once i got to even 3 weeks and started eating that ricotta bake...i was good to go. you can do it:)

You slipped. But don't do it again. Because nothing happened this time doesn't mean something won't happen next time. This early out we need to be compliant. These rules are in place for a reason. Also giving into cravings and temptation now, may make it harder to lose and maintain six months+ down the road....

I look both ways like mommy taught me. Others just cross without looking. Some make it...others aren't so lucky. :P.

The chocolate is no biggie. (Would have made me barf though lol i still cant do sugar). Its a slip but it wont kill anyone.

The Soup is however as those little bits can get caught in a fresh suture line and cause infection. That does kill.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
