running and incline?

Recommended Posts

I've read many times that you need to set the incline at 2% just to simulate running outside on level ground. No personal experience but it makes sense. I will add' date=' I've been freezing all winter. I've never been this cold in my life. But it's amazing how light I can dress while running in the cold weather and still feel good. It's the one time the cold doesn't bother me...except my hands. Anything under 50 and I feel better wearing gloves but I still wear shorts and a long sleeve heavyweight dri fit shirt plus a compression shirt underneath.[/quote']

BTB, I have been training on my treadmill with the incline set to 2% for 60 min (10k) since originally posting this thread. It so happens that we had a sunny day today in Seattle, temps were mild and it happens to be a running day for me. With your encouraging emails over last month, I thought today would be a good day to take my game outside. I measured out 10k of relatively flat and tried it out. Success! I finish in 57 minutes. One trick I have learned this last week about posture is to keep my chest up and my head looking forward as well as back straight. This puts the center of gravity right around upper thigh region instead of in front of the abs. Before my whole body was leaning forward a bit. Also, I felt like the impact of hitting the ground was absorbed far better as my legs gave a little with each stride, much like a shock absorbing system in a car. After 10 minutes, I hit the sweet runner spot of cozy warm ness and the rest was fairly straight forward. Took the usual energy squares before the run.

Sorry noob here I only walk on mine at 3.5 speed and 5 incline. What speed do you run at with a incline of 2%. Blush :)

You are doing great already and will be running faster before you know it! Just keep doing whatever you feel comfortable with. I want to encourage you to keep at it. Great things are in store for you. :)

That's awesome. Sounds like another treadmill runner converted. 2 more and I get a free toaster.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
