Band Repair -Xpost

Recommended Posts

Hi Leatha,

I am happy to hear that you are home and feeling better. It sounds like it was more than you anticipated.

I wonder if the doc didn't enter at your existing scars because he was not your original surgeon and has his own way of entering patients? Did he have any explanation for you?

I am going to need a band replacement due to a leak, but my doc did say she would go at the existing scar sites and also wants to move my port further over to my right side. She has had difficulty accessing my port even under floro. She thinks that my ab work has tilted it around my oblique muscles :) I guess my exercising is doing something underneath this layer of fluff!

I hope you are feeling better soon.

Take Care,

Leatha: Glad to hear you are home. I was beginning to get concerned that we had not heard from you. Morphine does that to patients it is one of it's side effects. Demerol is also a bad drug for causing nausea and the headaches. We typically give an anti nausea med with any sedative drug. But oh well.

I am soooooooooooooo happy that you are home and ready to start anew.

Keep us posted.

Penni

Grinning sheepisly and thinking "Wonder if Leatha will let me play connect the scars on her belly?" LOL!!

Lethalwoman, I'm so glad that you're home and doing well! Just think, you got 2 things fixed for the price of 1! Getting the hiatal hernia fixed should also help you feel better, big time. When I got my band, the dr. also removed my gallbladder, several abdominal adhesions, and a benign tumor (I didn't know I had) right above the band placement. I was sent home with an abdominal drain for a week (an extra puncture). So I felt like I really got my money's worth. Please take it easy and keep us posted.

I hope it's not too unclear and huge, but I'm no good with the photo stuff..

We'll see.

Thanks Darcy!

That's a good one, isn't it? I had nothing of the kind with my first surgery. I'm still not too sure why I had to have this one? lol. Worst part is that it's right on the bottom of my rib cage and I think sometimes it's spasming? It seems like it tightens up right on the bottom of my rib cage and is really uncomfortable. Getting up and down from the bed or couch is very very hard. I'm hoping today will be a better day. I wound up sleeping on the couch most of the night because it's just too hard to get off the bed. :think

I'm sure hoping he didn't stitch this thing to my ribcage. :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
