I was sleeved 1/28/13. I have incisions. 4 of them are really small and are a mere line on my stomachs now. One is a couple inches and is the incision that they put the stapler through. That incision feels hard underneath the skin. The other incisions are soft. Anyone else have this?

This same incision gave me a lot of issues 7-10 out. It felt like it was on fire and burning really bad. My dr. was concerned I had a hernia and did a ct scan. The results were that I had a small tear where my incision was inside. I believe it has since healed because it doesn't hurt at all now. Could that tear have caused it to be harder under the incision site?

It will disappear over time. Give it a few months and you won't even notice it.

Most likely scar tissue from the healing process and will go away. If it isn't causing any pain or discomfort I wouldn't worry about it. Good Luck.

If there was a tear in the tissue it could have bled and the hard knot that forms is called a hematoma. It is just a build up of clotted blood under the skin and it is normal. It could take a few weeks to go away. That's just one likely possibility.

I was sleeved on 2/12. All of my incisions have been healing up very well. I think that I have pushed myself a little too hard, because last night I felt like I had pulled something in that lower right incision. It is hard underneath as well. It scared me a little, and reminded me that I am not 100% healed yet, even though I feel like I am. I have my first post-op appt. on Wed, so I'll be able to get it looked at, but I hope I didn't hurt anything!

Yeah, my big incision felt "hard" for awhile. I feel pretty well healed up on the inside, but my incisions are still very obvious on the outside 2 months out.

Thanks for the reassurance guys! I forgot about hematomas! It also could just be because the incision was bigger and more "traumatized". Can't imagine the stapler was easy to get into that hole! ;)

My doc told me that the big incision was harder than the others because there was a stitch through the muscle wall that the other incisions didn't require

All of mine formed hard knots but fortunately after several months they disappeared.

No worries <3

The biggest incision is the one they pulled your stomach out of.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
