I have PTSD from throwing up constantly when I had a lapband. I WILL NOT eat fast under any circumstances, it makes me ill to watch other people do that because I associate it with pain and vomiting - its not a judgy thing, its really and truly an involuntary response.

It's turned me into quite the weeny when eating out. I wont risk anything I am uncertain of in public. I would rather just have 3 ounces of soft fish than something fantastic that might make me look bad.

I'm so sorry for your night, I hope it never happens to you again.

Perhaps return it or give it as a gift ??

Note to self always carry a sealable plastic bag when going out for dinner dont forget the extra Water and Protein.:~)

You know how people will type "lol" and you wonder "did they really laugh out loud?" I wasn't sure where you were going with this story then you got to the vomiting in the red clutch and I actually did "LOL". Bless your heart but thanks for the insight. I will be sleeved March 6 and its stories like this that allow me to learn from others mistakes. Fast thinking on your part.

My husband accused me of being self concious about eating in publis since I was sleeved. I eat very lightly while out because I fear having an "incident" at the table. I told him that until he knew what it felt like to have 80% of his stomach cut out he could keep his amateur psychological analysis to himself.

That story was awesome!

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond but I haven't been able to access the site since the maintenance the other night. So I am back, with a new name. To answer some of your questions, I thought the whole episode was hysterical. I absolutely love my sleeve and would never choose to go back. My phone survived and so di my lovely red clutch bag. My partner is still licking his wounds.

I love the snap lock bag idea and it will be part of my outfit in future.

I am so sorry this happened to you! I am 7 mos out and still get nervous when we dine out. It will get easier. I definitely can relate to those words "we're running late" being fatal. Anytime my husband says those words I slowly look up and glare and he quickly says "oh yea sorry babe I forgot". I absolutely cannot eat too fast or I will be sick as a dog.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
