Well you are not doing it for anyone but yourself! So who cares what ppl say, there will always be haters and ppl that dont want you to succeed.

Some of what they are saying is true, you still have to exercise will power after the surgery. Diet and exercise are necessary for weight loss and maintainance...this is not an easy way out! You still have to do the work.

I just got a response the other day "I know someone that had a WLS and gained all the weight back" Like thats the case for everyone....dumb ass. But anyway, do what you need to do and dont worry about what ppl think or say. Its your life your decision. I am only 3.5 mo out and I am already seeing that Diet and Exercise will play an important role in the rest of my life, like I didnt even have the surgery. The surgery is just forced Portion Control. You still have to put the right food in your mouth.

Good Luck!

I get that I will have to change my eating habits and exercise, but I dont think that many other people know this about WLS. They think that you just get the surgery and thats it....I did explain to her that getting the surgery is a tool for me to be successful with changing my diet. Ive lost and gained and lost and gained....I can lose but it always comes back on. I need this tool to help me....I cant do it by myself. Thats what shes not getting.

Thanks for all the support guys! It really means a lot to be able to talk to others who are going through this as well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
