Indiana Sleevers

Recommended Posts

BryJohn if you were asking me, I am just going to my first information meeting this week and since I'll be private pay I want to see what they have to say about that. I have seen on this board some people have said their surgery would have cost upwards of $81000.00 then some say $8,000. So that makes a heck of a difference to me!! I will not go to Mexico for the surgery if its cheaper from what I've been reading in some areas I travel there. So basically I'm just starting out but I want it yesterday!!

I see Dr. Evanson on 3/22 for further info and get started on his diet routine for 3 months I think. I m hoping if all goes well, I'll be sleeved early July. Probably a little soon, but a possibility.

Luckily for me my only out if pocket will be $1500. I've heard the surgery running $15k for out of pocket.

I've been on the 3 month diet since January but during the first month I would take one meal out of the week and have a "last supper" to get my fill of my favorites. I still managed to lose 10 lbs before my second appt. I'm 2 months out with no Diet Coke and 1months no beer. I go Friday for my final appointment and I'm 24 lbs down so far.

Indiana...home, sweet home! I now live in NJ but Covington, IN will always be my home! I miss it so much. Had my surgery 12/26 and it was the best thing I have ever done even though I am a slow loser. I have lost 54 pounds total; 37 since the surgery. I just started the gym (Zumba & some machines) last week so am hoping that will help with the weight loss. I'm eating "regular" foods now and even tolerating small bites of steak and lean ground round broken up for spaghetti sauce or chili. Best wishes on your journey!

BryJohn, did Dr. Inman take long to get your tests set up and everything going when you met the first time? The Dr is great, his staff not so much.

I'm from the South Bend area and am going to Memorial Weight Loss and Bariatrics (I HIGHLY recommend them - they focus on making over your mind as well, and really teach you everything you need to succeed; there's a NUT, a counselor, and an insurance pro in addition to the surgeon).

My surgery is March 13! It took 8 months to get a date after all the insurance and testing but I'm so happy it's finally close!

The first appt I met with the Dr and a Nut and scheduled my Psych exam and a swl class 1 month later. At that appointment they scheduled me my 3rd and final appointment with the Dr. I will also have to pass a nicotine test which is no problem. I will know more after Friday and ill keep you informed.

Covington is definitely small-town Indiana. I loved growing up there and the Beef House was one of our family's favorite places to eat. I am still in contact with a lot of the friends I made during those growing-up years and I'm so thankful for all of the wonderful memories of school, teachers, classmates and the character and morals that were taught to us. Oh, and did I mention BASKETBALL???????? Ha! I'm a Hoosier at heart forever!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
