Yep same thing as others. I had my own moments of 'what have i done.' Believe the part of you that did this to feel/look better. Believe that you made the right choice to take your life back. There's a lot going on in your body now that you don't really have a say over. Don't let the anxiety of future things or the right now difficulties determine how you felt about the decision to do this. Every time you start getting upset, recite your list of why you did it and then make yourself do something to distract. Don't feed the anxiety or the doubt.

I'm calling my pcp for a referral tomorrow for a therapist so that I can get a better handle on the anxiety and make a plan to be successful for the long term. It does get better, I'm only 2 weeks out but a big part of my difficulty was that I wasn't sleeping. Once I got that handled, it got better.

It will get better. I felt angry and depressed at first. I'm 9wks po now. I feel so much better. Ive lost only 30lbs so far and am happy. Honestly, I do miss my relationship with food, but im glad I broke up with it. I believe it had a lot to do with my break up with food. It was my will breaking. At first I hated, yes, I said hated, what I did, but now im learning my new lifestyle. I probably will be able to say at 6mths that I fell in love with my sleeve. Continue asking for support here, it helped me get through it. It really did. I know it's hard. Just keep moving forward.

I know!! And I understand I think as much as we prepare ourselves for this it is still really hard in the beginning for some of us!

Remember what I said about the pre op diet?

Enjoy it because it gets worse... But only for a little while I promise :)

Is there anyone helping you out?? And are you walking?

I'm walking since day one. My husband took days off from work and my sister is my neighbor. Is like this nasty feeling toke over me since yesterday. All my brain keep asking me is why I did this. But thanks to all of yall that are putting a smile on my face

Awww... Your brain well that makes sense! My brain did the same thing! It turns out my being fat wasn't my stomachs fault as much as it was my big ole fatty brain saying EAT. Yep your brains pissed right now cause your showing it who's the the boss. Give it a couple if weeks then it will shut its big yap and leave you in peace :P

I had surgery done one year ago 2-15, 2012. The day of surgery I was 220 today I am at 148! This past year has been challenging, confusing, frustrating but also quite successful for me. It can be very tough those first 3 months, but after that everything starts coming together. A year later I can eat just about anything, but don't really have the same need or desires to do so. I go out to dinner with my husband and friends, order steak or grilled shrimp, eat about 1/4 of it, take it home and make 2 more meals from it! My point is - I have given up nothing but obesity since my sleeve. (On Valentines Day, I had a piece of chocolate! But I literally nibbled on that one piece most of day instead of eating whole box!!) I can run, chase the grandkids, ride the 4-wheeler EVERYTHING is easier! No depression about the impending dieting that starts every Monday. Life is better I promise! Also want to mention that I had NO dramatic weight loss. 50 lbs first 4 months, 25 lbs in the last 6 mos. went from sz 24 to a 7/8! Hang in there!!

I'm a bit over a year out. I was at goal by ten months and am now 12 pounds under. I feel 100% normal. I barely remember those first few hard months. A size 4 now and I never, ever thought that was possible my goal was ten or maybe, maybe an 8. I regret telling too many people because I feel so normal and don't want to talk about any more. I promise though it stinks now you will have no regrets soon enough. Best wishes.

so how much can you eat at a year out swimmer? seeing as i'm on a completely liquid diet and only expect to do 2 ounces at a go after it ends...i'm a bit curious how much you feel comfortable eating at a year out.

Yes, I was there exactly one year ago, and I drink at least 2 25 gram Protein drinks a day still. That being said, I can also eat a vast amount of things as well. It's hard to explain, but you will spend the coming months learning how to eat in a much different way. I don't EVER dump or vomit, but I will know in an instant if I have taken one bite too much and stop mid chew sometimes. If I grill hamburgers, I will fix it with cheese and mayo, one side of bun, cut into fourths and nibble it, literally. Not good with veggies or drinking cold stuff. Leaves me with a knotted type feeling, or overly full real quick. At Xmas I nibbled goodies as everyone else gobbled them up, difference is - I had NO guilt and I lost while they gained! Good luck and contact me any time!

At two months out I am eating totally normal food and loving the new me. I can remember crying a lot early on wondering not only why did I do this to myself, but why did others "let me" do it. I was mad at ALL my doctors for encouraging me. I'm sure it was a mixture of hunger, low blood sugar mixed with a little shock that caused all those horrible feelings. Now I feel 20 years younger, love eating normal foods (then my stomach tells me enough) and the weight is slowly sliding off. 62 less pounds of misery and feeling great. You will too!!! Just hang in there

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
