Heaviness, tightness

Recommended Posts

Im 3 weeks & 3 days post op yesterday I ate a bit to fast and had to get rid of it, now every time I eat some thing I get this tightness and heavy feeling in my chest! It seems to last for nearly an hour then dissipates, slowly. I ate one scrambled egg this morning, and the same thing happened, just had to get rid of it. Its just very uncomfortable and is really starting to concern me. liquids give me a bit of the same feeling initially but not to the same magnitude. Any advise?

Are you eating it too fast? or possibly drinking to fast too? hopefully not eating and drinking together. I cant eat scrambled eggs anymore. .they didnt make me feel so good.. didnt like the way my stomach felt.. can you have maybe like a boiled or soft cooked egg? maybe the scrambled egg is too dense.. I find if I eat something too dense I dont feel well.. and Im 2 months post op.. try small bites and chew chew chew..and small sips.. taking in too much at a time can cause you some pain..and so does "getting rid" of it.. not good to throw up on a new stomach. you may have to try a few things.. but my advice is to call you doctor and find out why you feel like that.. or your nurse.. my nurse always is helpful.. she is the best. keep us posted.. always like to hear from new people. best of luck with your journey.

Take it easy for the next day or two....may have strained a bit too much. If it maintains worsens follow up with your provider.

Not having that heavy feeling anymore, I was able to eat a small amount of food, I mean real food... Green Beans oh how I've missed them! I was also able to eat some broccoli cheddar Soup. I am still struggling between the stomach telling me to stop and my brain saying you need to eat more!!!! Any one else have that issue? Or am I just going nuts!

For me, this was an indication I needed to take a step back with my progression. Sometimes it is a two steps forward, one step back kinda thing. We have to move back to move forward. Listen to your body. It will tell you what it needs to do. Don't over-do.

Not sure why this is a man room topic because it happens to us all. :-P

It sounds like you irritated your stomach/esophagus area and that's why it was hard to eat for awhile. Slow down or you won't be able to get your little meal in and keep it down. May want to pre measure you food so that you know exactly when you should be done. I do because I've gone to far and regretted it. Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
