This just got REAL!

Recommended Posts

I went to my final results appointment before surgery scheduling. My Vitamin D was severely low so I got some tablets for that. I have to be on liquids for two weeks prior to surgery. (March 25th). My doctor advises me to go on a KetogenX diet. He says its a new law saying I have to see him within 30 days of surgery, so he told me to lose 15 lbs before surgery.

Has anyone heard of the KetogenX or Liver diet? The stuff is so expensive. I can barely afford the surgery and protein!

No I'm sorry I have not heard of that. Just Clear Liquids for 5 days pre op for me. Good luck!

my doctor put me on 2 wk liq diet, 1 Protein Shake for brkfst, 1 for lunch and then for dinner i can have Soup, chili, stew anything hearty but not creamy. for Snacks SF Popsicles or pudding or Jello.. Basically to lose the weight you just need to cut carbs, up your Protein and keep calorie intake between 600-800.

I looked KetogenX up its a new Protein by Bariatric Advantage -- basically you go on a liquid diet for 2 weeks before surgery, (to shrink your liver and make surgery safer) as many of us have. As for the low D, I too had the same problem and take supplements to increase my levels. Many doctors require some kind of weight loss before surgery, mine require both pre surgery weight loss and a pre op liquid diet.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
