Hi I'm a married mother of 2 and this year has been a really bad year already I'm scheduled to have the sleeve done Feb 25th and it's coming up quick but my family who knows nothing about the sleeve and they haven't gone with me to any of my appointments and have not tried to get educated about what I'm about to do are completely stressing my out. My mothers boyfriend of 8 yrs past away in January. Today is my uncles funeral he past away a couple of days ago and my aunt is in the hospital from a stroke she had when she found out about my uncle, and now my father is in the ICU because he was drinking himself to death because he's depressed about his brother and sister and sad and worried for my mom. My sister had a melt down begging me not to go through with the surgery because she fears the worst and my brother who is very quiet also in not so many words agrees with my sister and my mom straight out does not want me to do it. my husband who supports me but is still scared and is starting to worry to now because of everyones reactions so now he is leaning more toward being against me doing the surgery. Of course I'm scared but I'm 32 and weigh 310lbs I'm not doing it for vanilty I'm doing it for my health I wanna be a healthier mom and wife daughter and sister I'm not doing it because I wanna kill myself thats far from it but I'm soo confused and overwhelmed with everything going on I need someone to talk to so please anyone can you please give me advice and prayer.

Your trust needs to be in the Lord, not in what everyone else thinks. He has led you this far and He will be faithful to help you through the surgery and the journey to follow. Jer. 29:11 is one of my favorite verses saying that the Lord has a purpose and plan to prosper us and to give us hope and a future. I will be praying for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
