Hello All,

I new to this site and also newly banded. I was banded 10/11/06 by Dr. David Schumacher. (He's great!!) I had my first fill last Friday (11/10). So far I have lost 23 pounds. (I didn't have a pre-op diet)

Just checking to see how other people are doing.

A big welcome to you both!!

I know it may seem discouraging ottertail, but you've still lost 5 lbs per month and they're gone for good. Good work! You may be ready for another fill. Sometimes it takes a few to find the "sweet spot".

You both should check out the May and October bandster sites, too, and connect with people who were banded around the same time.

Keep reading, keep posting, we're all here to help and support each other.

A big welcome to you both :)

Congratulations on the weightloss so far. The good thing about the band is it just keeps working like that!

Ottertail, they say average weight loss is around a pound/week. Some lose more, some lose less, but you're right on target! Just think, without the band, you were likely to have gained a pound or two since May.

If you still feel disappointed, you've got to sit down and re-evaluate things. Are you eating band friendly foods? Are you stopping when you feel satieated? Are you exercising? If yes, you're doing all you can. If no, make an effort to work on whichever part you feel you could do better at :grouphug:

Good luck to you both!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
