Stalls can bite me!

Recommended Posts

Almost 8 weeks out and I'm in another stall. 240.8 last Friday, 240.4 today. My last stall lasted a little over a week, then I dropped 8 pounds in less than 2 weeks, now another week long stall. Not looking for any advice, necessarily. Just venting to those who will understand me. LOL

Hey.. If it makes you feel any better, I'm worse than you. 5+ week stall. I actually stopped counting the weeks.

Stalls do suck. At nearly 9 months post-op I've had more than my fair share of them. What I've learned is that if I stay on track my body will figure it out, and it doesn't necessarily have to be logical. The "math" doesn't add up sometimes. But eventually things happen and the body will lose faster than expected at some point, which then evens out the stall periods (even though it doesn't seen like, when you're in the middle of the stall.....).

Patience (hard to find, I know!) does pay off. Just stick to what's been working when you're not in the stall. You'll bust out of it soon enough, and usually when you least expect it!

:)

I know exactly how you feel. I am almost 5 months out and I have hit stalls that would last maybe a week but my current one has lasted almost a month. I know it's hard to deal with them but eventually it will pass.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
