Post-Op Diet calorie question

Recommended Posts

OK, so I have a calorie question..I am tracking my food daily on MyFitnessPal. I have set my daily goal to 600 calories. I was sleeved 12/26, so I am 6 weeks today. I have lost 42 lbs to date however I am experiencing some weight fluctuation. I am aware of the stall stages and that, I am sure, is part of it. But my question is...with a calorie goal of 600, is this goal BEFORE or AFTER exercise is factored in? I want to utilize my tool (sleeve) to its fullest and want to make sure I have my facts correct. Also, does anyone know any tips or tricks to avoid the stalls? I seem to get out of 1 for a couple days then another starts and I'm so freaked out that the weight will not continue to come off. I originally lost very quickly and the whole slowing down has made me a bit nervous. Please don't get me wrong, I am overjoyed of my loss within such a time frame but I just don't want to plateau and already be done. I still want another 45-48 lbs to go. Thanks in advance for your thoughts, opinions and ideas...they are all openly received.

For me I looked at my calories before exercise. Do you have a dietitian? 600 calories looks a little lite. I try to get 900 with 60 grams of Protein.< /p>

I do have a NUT that I am scheduled to see tomorrow. So I will get additional info there but sometimes I prefer the words from those who have experienced. We are each individuals therefore our diet plans, I would think, would also be individualized but I only received a handout that everyone else receives. Its kinda discouraging because you expect more from a professional but in all honesty I have learned more through forums, research and talking to athletes. So I am just trying to get opinions from those of us who have put in the time and work, after surgery, to verify my own thoughts and opinions. I think we, each as individuals, know our bodies better than anyone else.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
