Hi All, have been reading all your inspirational stories on here and decided to contribute myself! Even my husband doesn't have a clue what I weigh,I have to say I really admire someone who can openly say what they weigh and share their problems, faults and hopes for the future. MY WEIGHT TODAY IS 98 KILOS (216 LBS). WOW WHO SAID THAT!Only my close family know I'm actually having this surgery and a few can't understand my motive in having major surgery rather than go on another diet.

I've had various health issues over the past ten years, with blood pressure, migraines, depression, diverticulitis and irregular insulin levels, which means that diabetes is around the corner. I am 43 yrs old with two young daughters and about two years ago I finally realised that unless I drop the weight, these health issues will shorten my life and in turn reduce the time I have left with my girls. After several failed diets and much soul searching I have arrived here along with you guys on the verge of having this surgery.

The information I've got from reading blogs and watching videos has done a great job in preparing me for the next part of my adventure. God bless the internet!!

I would REALLY like to make friends with some of you guys, the people who really understand what it's like to be me.

Hi sleeve girl,

My husband never "knew" my true weight either!

I remember when we were in the hospital when I was giving birth to my son. A nurse came in and needed to know my weight for the medicine dosage, I made my husband leave the room so I could say it!!

He really didn't want me to have this surgery but I asked him to come to my Dr consult. It was there that I weighed myself in front of him (yes it was hard). I think that plus what to Dr. Said helped him change his mind and he has been my biggest supporter since then!

I welcome you and wish you all the best!

Laura

Hi!

Welcome to SleeveWorld (my own little name for this place. I reference it so much to my husband that now I just preface everything with SleeveWorld Alert)!

My husband has no idea how much I weigh (or at least I think he doesn't -- but who knows-- he can sure see it though! ;) )

When I first came here in August I did not post my weight either. I've NEVER told people my weight but after a few months I finally said, what the hell, it is what it is and everybody here is in the same boat. And it made me feel really comfortable that everybody was so supportive, whether they weigh ( or started out at) 450, 200, 310 or even 180. I also liked everyone's tickers...it really added to the experience and helped to overcome all the anxiety that comes along with this whole journey. So for me to add tickers I had to come clean... :)

It was a VERY positive thing for me and felt like my first step to FREEDOM and PEACE in my own body....

Good Luck!

~Dana

I stayed home and sent my hubby to my brother's house so he didn't have to suffer because of me! It didn't bother me at all not to go BUT I do think it may have been tough if I'd have gone and would have had to watch everybody eating some of my favorite things.... (oyster dressing, artichoke casserole...)

Hi Karen

I have been married 27 years in May and only as of two months ago my husband never knew my weight. When I told him I was 230 lbs at the beginning of my journey he was very understanding (shocked) but realized how much it took for me to tell him. I lost my mom due to a heart attack when she was only 47. She could never get her blood pressure under control. My father had a massive stroke 4 years ago and to this day, cannot put a sentence together. I will be 45 in 25 days and I am battling high blood pressure and borderline diabetes. All I could think of is the pain of losing my mom and knew this was not what I wanted to put my daughters through. So, I have my referral and my surgery consultation for the sleeve on February 7th. By the way....I love your name Karen....that was my moms name :)

Thank you for sharing all of that I was very moved reading your story,I think we are kindred spirits! Both my grandads and granny died from diabetes and I saw first hand the horrors of living with such a disgusting disease! both my parents and all my grandparents had blood pressure so it's hardly suprising that I inherited it! I feel for you that you had to go through so much so young, but what you're doing now losing the weight is ensuring that your girls will have longer with you, that's exactly why I'm doing this. I want to see them getting married and want to be able to help with my grandchildren and not be a burden.

Well done!

I work in administration in a hospital and see the awful things being over weight does to a person. I too want to see and be with my grandchildren. My 23 year old was 8 and my 17 year old was 2 when my mom passed and all she ever wanted was to spoil her grand babies. And the number it did on my oldest, not sure if she will ever recover from. It gives me more of a reason to push on. Thank you for the conversation Karen!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
