Yes. I don't even know if I'm approved yet. I have been really anxious about having surgery. I can't help but to think the worst. I'm scared but I know it's for the best! My husband says I will be healthier in the long run. I hope you get rid of your nervousness.

I've been on two maintenance medications for anxiety for a year or so before surgery and I take Vistaril when I have a lot of anxiety. Before surgery it helped to talk to friends who were really understanding, cry, and tell my husband how I was feeling. When I talked it out I felt better. Sometimes Vistaril would be the only thing that really helped. I had to get to a place where I could tell myself that I was going to be doing some hard work for myself and that I would be healthier and more energetic. I'm 7 weeks out today and already off one blood pressure med and have a ton of energy back. Hope this helps.

I spent a lot of time talking to my therapist pre-surgery and also had my psychiatrist up my Xanax dosage temporarily. I also took melatonin in order to sleep. Anxiety continued post-op. Well, more than my usual anxiety. I have dealt with having severe anxiety & panic attacks for about 4 years now. My best advice would be to consult your professionals & come up with a care plan. It's the only way that I have been able to make it through. Best of luck to you!

My anxiety medication was increased as well but I was assured its just a temporary phase post op and things should be back to normal around 12 months. I'm already feeling better and not needing half of my allowed doses so there is a light :)

I was told not to take it on the morning of surgery ( just to take my thyroid and BP meds) and to resume the next day. It was fine.

Yes, I was able to stay on my medications. I have a prescription for Xanax as needed and an antidepressant. I take mine at night so I was able to take it the night before surgery. They didn't have my antidepressant at the hospital, but I was only there overnight. I was able to start taking all my meds as usual the day after surgery. (Which is when I got home)

I think it's only the meds that thin your blood that are a problem before surgery. The lead up to surgery is a pretty anxious time for everyone.

Make sure you do heaps of the stuff that you know helps for you (except eating heaps :P;) )

Exercise lots, talk lots. Breath. This is a great thing you're doing.

Good luck,

Deano

I have heard that after getting sleeved, you have to crush all your pills. Does anyone out there know if it is true?

yes true,

I crushed pills for 2 months stuffed the powder into a spoonful of cottage cheese and swalled straight away.

2 months was my office visit when the surgeon changed things.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
