Does everyone vomit post-op?

Recommended Posts

Jess just interested still in the pre op approval phase...do you want more kids? What was your deciding factor on sleeve vs band....leaning toward the sleeve but the safety flag in me saying take the band...

I'm done having kids. We have 2 boys (3 and 8 months) and that's enough for us. Both of my in laws had the bad with horrible results. Never lost the weight, constantly had food get stuck, always sick. My friend and uncle got the sleeve with awesome results.

Hey, I am 5 days post op and I havnt even had the first bit of nasua. Thank Goodness! I have done exactly like they told me too and have done very well. The only thing I have felt in my tummy is a bouncy feeling. Sometimes it feels like there are jumping Beans in there.

Just tell everyone: dr, nurses, anisthesia, ect. that you get sick easy and they will make sure they give you the meds to prevent it. I did, and they sent some home with me too.

Hope this eased your mind a little :)

Other than dry heaving a few times for the first 2 days post-op, I've no vomiting or nausea at all. No problems with any food, consistency, etc.

There are tons of options for painkillers. You have to be vocal about your experiences and needs. A good anesthesiologist will ask, but if not you need to TELL them. Take control! I'm sure you can handle that as the mother of 2 boys!!!

I'm getting close to 4 months out and I never threw up after surgery. The only time I came close was the day of surgery when I was recovering in my room and I got a shot for nausea VERY fast because I was being a diva. The next time was 5 weeks out when I ate 1/2 of a creme brulee and slimed so bad (the only time I have) that I thought I was going to lose it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
