Surgeon said weightloss might be done - short of personal goal

Recommended Posts

Okay' date=' based on the link and measuring with ribbon my stats are:

Body fat % = 26.77 (acceptable)

BMI = 27.58 (overweight)

Waist to hip ratio = .85 (moderate risk)

BMR = 1355.9 (Boy, with that kind of calorie deficit you'd think I'd lose more. I only eat under 800 - other factors at play right?)

I'm going to do this again tonight with a measuring tape in me birthday suit. I just couldn't wait.[/quote']

They're kind of fun aren't they :) The assessment on the calories and body fat% were very valid for me. My goal might change due to them when I get closer to goal. I know the goal of going under 100 is not going to happen now given that I'd have an unhealthy amount of fat on me at that point.

There is a general rule of thumb that for every 100 lbs you lose, you can lose an additional 8 to 10 of excess skin. I don't remember what your total was (I'm on the ipad so your profile does not show) but keep that in mind as you think about goals. If it was 150lbs that would be 12 to 15lbs excess skin which is enough to pop you out of one BMI level up to the next...

I wouldn't throw in the towel just yet. Your body is just resting getting ready to shed a little bit more.....

You already look like one sexy lady and you have lost 100 lbs....

I've been at plateau's here and there and then a lb or 2 will drop off....it's frustrating because I want it now, not later, now....LOL

Wow love your success story. Remember your doc doesn't really know, it's his educated guess..... :)

True. I did lose a couple more. It's really slow going though.

I had surgery August 2011, and I am still losing. It is slow, but it is happening. I am at the point that I'm not sure if I still want to continue losing because as I lose now, I am seeing more loose skin.

Thanks, Iggy, for the link. My results were: BMI 27.16 BMR 1532.1 Waist to Hip Ratio 0.73 Body Fat Percentage 27.48

This is a little different than what I get other places. The BMI and body fat percentage is showing higher, and the BMR is slightly lower than what I see on my scale that has the electric pulse, but the difference really isn't that great.

I am not too worried about the BMI saying I'm overweight. I don't necessarily agree with that.

Thank you Iggy....

My BMR is 1332.4

my body fat is 26.11 which is acceptable

My Waist to hip is .86 which is high risk

Now how do I adjust for the excess skin I have?

I must of ate alot of those girl scout Cookies to gain weight then. LOL <_<

I get the feeling I'm in the same boat. I'm going to increase my exercise and try and lower my calories. I really want to lose these last 20 pounds or so. I know I have about 10 pounds of loose skin that will be coming off (soon hopefully) but overall, I'm really happy where I am. I can shop at normal stores, wear normal clothes, and I'm healthy.

Can't ask for much more than that!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
