Hey all - my name is Tad. Had my revision January 23. More discomfort and pain than I anticipated (compared to Lap-Band surgery). 4 days out and I actually feel pretty good this morning. Ingesting 64-ounces of Fluid is actually quite difficult. Just focusing on my Protein Shakes, Vitamins, and then other fluids. Actually, I managed 44-ounces yesterday and today I will try to hit 50-ounces. Strange not feeling my old port in my left side (I don't miss it) and it is also nice to not feel that constant restriction in the band. I am so looking forward to going for a good 3-mile run when I feel up to it!

Sounds like you're doing great! I can't wait for my revision - 2 weeks to go.

Getting stronger with each passing day. What type of problems were you having with your band?

I was banded a little over 5 years ago with a goal to lose about 90-100 lbs. I lost 20 in the first few months. Then it was another 30 over the next 2 - 3 years. I sat around a 50 lb loss for a while then steadily began regaining. Now only 20 lbs down.

The biggest issue was a near lack of restriction. Always either too tight or too loose. Kept it too tight for too long and had reflux and fell into the slider food route. Have the larger band with 12 cc capacity. Even at 9 cc I had very little restriction. Turns out it's too big for me, but the doctor didn't want to use the smaller one and have me suffer too many issues. Great, I paid how much for something that wasn't even right to begin with?

I've never had issues with slips, port problems, etc. This just hasn't been the right tool. Kinda like using a screwdriver to pound in a nail.

If you are having trouble getting your fluids you might want to try drinking more warm or at least room temp fluids. Warmer fluids help reduce the swelling and are therefore easier to get in. Good Luck.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
