Will a diagnosis of tachacardya (sp?) stip me from having my surgery?

Recommended Posts

Went to the cardiologist for clearance a d after all tests he said I have tachacardya. I knew my heartbeat was faster then normal (resting hb is around 115 bpm), but I didn't know it was a problem. The doctor seemed pretty troubled by it and asked when my surgery was (I just started my 6 month waiting period). When I asked about my sleeve surgery, he wouldn't give me a clear answer. Yesterday, he set me up with one of those heart monitors to wear for 24 hours and He ordered a stress test in 4 weeks, and the to come back to the office 2 weeks after.

Anyone have to deal with this? Did it affect your sleeve surgery?

Oh, and sorry for typos.. I'm trying to cook dinner and wrangle two kids! Lol

my heart rate was extremely high the day I had my ekg done - I was extremely nervous. for me, they let me set for a while, talked to be about other stuff and ran the strip again. it was still elevated but it dipped below 100 bpm

But mine isn't nerves.. It's just how I am all the time. They even put me in the cardiac unit after I had both my kids because it would never go below 110.

Nope. And I've had it even before I was overweight. It doesn't affect me. I need have any symptoms.

hmm I would imagine you can still have surgery with no problem, they may want you medicated for it though

i too was diagnosed with tachycardia. i had to wear a holter monitor for 30 days for palpitations. and it was determined that i had pcv's and periods of tachycardia. mine was mainly due to anxiety and sometimes it would happen with exertion. but i was sleeved 12/10 and it was never an issue. and the monitor was unrelated to the sleeve. i was complaining to my pcp about the palps and he ordered the holter.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
