Surgery with Dr Illan

Recommended Posts

I still can't believe my surgery is done. I get to the hospital almost 11am and they start working on me right away. My lab work, my height, my weight, chest ex ray. Then we take a minute to meet the Dr on the floor and get some medical history and tell me what to expect. Omar (the coordinator) was right when he said they have done so many surgeries. He was their to meet me when I got to the hospital and helped fill out the paperwork. I ended up upgrading to hospital florence that is very nice. Well after I saw the cardiologist and got my EKG and some more medical history I meet Dr Illan (that is very young by the way) I didn't have that many questions for him but he was able to go over the process that will be taken. Next thing you know I get wheeled off to surgery and before you know it I am being wheeled back to my room with a mild soreness in my stomach. I know I have to walk and I have been doing the best I can but at first they would not let me walk until the anesthesia was completely worn off. So I am in my room resting and happy as can be to be on the losers bench.

I am back home now and enjoyed my hole experience. I stayed busy at the Hotel (which is beautiful by the way) I had to see the dentist and got plenty of shopping and they have some excellent broth across from the hotel. Omar will take you and I can't thank him and Dr Illan for making this hole experience so wonderful.

YAY! I am so glad that you had such a great experience. Did you have a drain Btw? He told me he only uses them when needed.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
