Port moved and tummy tuck

Recommended Posts

I have had my band for 4 years and have done very well, I love it. My only problem is that my surgeon placed my port a little too high and now that I have lost my weight my port sticks out like a third breast right below my ribcage.

I am ready for a Tummy Tuck to help with the extra skin and hope to have my port moved to a "better" location but am finding it very hard to find a dr. who can do both at the same time.

Please let me know If there is someone out there who could help. I am in South Florida.

Thank You

This won't help you much from South Florida, but Dr. Rincon in San Antonio, TX, says he works with a plastic surgeon to do tummy tucks on his weight loss patients to prevent problems with the port. I didn't ask for more info on the guy since I was a long way from ready.

Good luck.

I have a low profile port and mine sticks out pretty good. Mine is directly between my breast bone and my belly button. I like the location because my bra doesn't irritate it or anything but I am considering a Tummy Tuck. As a matter of fact I had already had my consultation for that and my boob job when I found out I was pregnant. Guess I will have to wait a bit.

Anyway....what I was going to say was that my low profile port still sticks out quite a bit. More when I am laying on my back than anything but I have lost a lot of weight in my tummy and it is noticeable. However I wear a girdle and it seems keep it tucked in. Now my concern is going to be the baby pushing on it.

I appreicate your info, your numbers are great! I hope to figure this out sometime soon. I love my band and would love to not see my port stick out anylonger.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
