after surgery how awful it looks when others take big bites?

I am 11 weeks out and I am really getting used to my small amounts on my plate, and small bites. I am really becoming repulsed by how much food others put in their mouths. I was the "eat a meal in 3 bites" and finished in3 minutes person, why is this wiggling me out? Anyone else notice this?

Yes. I was watching my hubbie eat yesterday and I was just astounded at how much food was on his plate and how much he put in his mouth at once. I take very tiny bites and chew, chew, chew! I had surgery 4 weeks ago.

Hehehe,I started putting less and less food on my kids plates, until they reminded me thry have normal stomachs and I dont! I really worried that they would gain weight if they ate that much.

But in 10 months since I've been sleeved my 20 year old hasnt gained anything and my 11 year old gained 3 pounds, quite normal dont you think?

Now,I remind myself to back off.I am not normal anymore and they are!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
