How are you going to take them post op? I bought liquid vitamins for post op so I wouldn't have to worry about crushing them up. It was Centrum brand. If you are pre op now, I would just get some regular Vitamin pills that you take.

It's totally normal not being able to tolerate them, especially post op. I now just take a double dose of gummy vitamins. It is not uncommon for people to have this problem, so talk to your surgical team and see what options are available to you.

I have liquid Multivitamins and my Biotin and niacin pills I chop up with my

smoothies, but you can get your Vitamins from anywhere. I dont taste them when i put them in my smoothies, maybe try them at different time of the day as well. Some

doctors try and make you buy theirs so they can make money, but you can get the

vitamins anywhere, they are Vitamins its no special kind, get something that works for you. Good luck:)

Take your bottle to the store and compare the ingredients. This lady is correct.

I have never been able to take Vitamins without upsetting my stomach ( before or after surgery) BUT I discovered gummies and they saved the day. I double up on flinstone Gummy multiple Vitamins and take 2 Vitamin C gummies a day. I take small bites of each gummy and chew...chew..chew. Goes down with ease.

Also Viactive for Calcium, Vitamin D and K, chewy chocolate that actually taste good.

My hair and nails look the best they have in years! Who knew...

Just chew it up fast and down it with Water.

I've never had a problem with taking pills but I used to make mixtures of different herbs and spices, mix it with Water and lemon and down it. Was super gross but made me feel great.

I now take a mixture of honey and cinnamon (LOTS of cinnamon) every morning and night for health benefits. I don't taste it I just swallow the clump of honey.

My Surgeons office said no gummies, but I love the Gummies!

I asked my NUT about gummies and she also said gummies are a no no. She recommended some bariatric specific Vitamins. chewable. EW. But Its what you gotta do! I would just do it fast and drink Water. Its only for a minute!

May I ask why gummies are a no no?

I'm pre-op but I am compiling my list of post-op needs.

May I ask why gummies are a no no?

I'm pre-op but I am compiling my list of post-op needs.

I was told it was because of the sugar content somewhere along the line. Can anyone else confirm? Hmmm I think I'm wrong though but I already posted sorry!

I could not tolerate regular Vitamins, I tried several kinds but just couldn't get them down, and when I did they made me sick to my stomach and the aftertaste was unbearable. My fiancé is a licensed nutritionist and he came home with the gummy vitamins for me one day and I do great with them!

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
