Good luck to everyone that is being sleeved this week (inlcuding me..yay). I have been reading a lot here about going to Mexico and I applaud you for taking that step. I am fortunate that my insurance covered me for this. In regard to all the classes required, I have to say that I am glad I had to go through all that. It gave me a chance to make darn sure this was the avenue I wanted to go with my weight loss. It a tool people. We still have to do the work. Just want everyone to realize that. Also, the classes taught me how to deal with my emotions, how to handle changes is attitudes towards me when I lose this weight and how to live a full and healthy life post-op. This was my choice as it was yours and we should stand proud on that decision. One thing I learned through this whole journey from being obese to the decision to get healthy....I will NEVER treat people the way I have been treated all these years. We are all treated so differently when we have this weight problem, but no one seems to be empathetic to us as individuals. Ain't gonna happen with me. I will love the new me and I want to help others, not degrade them. I love you all and hope everyone has a wonderful experience.

AND, don't forget, if you ware even thinking about the possibility of doing a half marathon or 5k after your surgery, consider joining our private Facebook page. We will be encouraging each other, talking about training tactics, and working toward a dream of running in the Disney Princess Half Marathon next year. Hey, I am 61 and if I can dream, so can you, right? Just let me know, then like me on facebook (Kriss Melby Johnson) and I will add you to our page. Come on, it will be fun.

My surgery is Tuesday and I'm finally starting to get nervous. A friend of mine today told me that having this surgery is unnatural. What if he is right?

Sent from my iPad using VST

What is unnatural is the fact that he is not supporting you.... Remember there is a reason you are on the journey.... Don't let one person give you self doubt.

What if he said driving a car was unnatural.... You can do this!

Getting your appendix out is unnatural. If you have appendicitis you should do the natural thing and let it burst inside you, and then die.

Haha "unnatural" is one of the biggest b.s. words ever.

C-sections are unnatural. Just let the mother and baby die, I say!

...Yeah your friend's logic just doesn't hold.

Cresh,

I'm sorry your friend is expressing their opinion in such a negative manner.

Remember that this is a tool. Everyone is on a different journey, and not everyone will have the perspective needed to support decisions you make.

Head up, young person! You are making a good decision for your health.

My surgery is the day after yours.

I'm praying for you.

day 3 of pre op diet. I got on scale yesterday, it said 255. Got on today it says 250. 5 pounds in one day? I'll take that! Ive always been a fast loser, but now that I've had 4 babies and im nearing 30 I've been a little afraid my weight loss would be a lot slower. Hopefully, the way its looking that doesn't seem to be the case. I can't wait to be sleeved and see it fall off!!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
