Hello all,

I am a newbie here. I was looking at this website to answer a few of my questions about the surgery and enjoyed reading all the success stories. They were all so encouraging! I have been heavy for most of my life and struggled with many options to lose weight just to regain it all back & then some. That is why I have decided to get sleeved after many months of research.

I am pre-op and I submitted my complete application a few weeks ago and my first appointment is scheduled Jan 30th. I have already attended a seminar, received approval from my pcp, letters from my gyno, two sleep studies complete, bloodwork complete, and my psych evaluation is tomarrow. I am looking for pre and post op sleevers to get advice and be able to talk to others taking the same journey as me. Any advice for my psych evaluation or other pre-op preparations would be would be greatly appreciated!

Just be yourself, it's basically a formality to make sure your not psycho! Lol, they really just want to make sure that you understand this isn't a miracle cure....it's a tool & you still have to work to control your eating. I am just a month post op tomorrow & I LOVE my sleeve! I can basically eat anything I want...just way smaller portions! I'm totally satisfied with that! Good luck!

lol yea i figured it was something like that....just the thought of going to see a psychologist is a little weird because I never thought I would after studying four years of psychology in college. Thanks and good luck with your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
