Saying good bye to the things I love!

Recommended Posts

Last week I said good bye to chicken wings (they were so gross) and yesterday I said good bye to movie theater popcorn. I look at it as if loosing a loved one. Its easier as I have a chance to say good bye. Lol crazy I know but I only have 2 weeks until liquid diet starts. I don't really have anything else to say good bye too (:

LOL...I am right there with you. I start my liquid diet in a couple of weeks as well. I don't want to do the "last huge meal" thingy, but movie popcorn, McD's fries, and honeybuns are a few of my guilty pleasures that I'm ready to say good bye to. Ok, I will have to have one last honey bun ;)

(: yeah I gave myself 2 weeks to say good bye to those 2 so I didn't cram them in the same week ha. I do want to have a big juicy steak though...we will see if that happens. I start liquids on the 31st.

I have my pre op appointment with my surgeon tomorrow. He will tell me then when my pre op diet starts. My surgery isn't until Feb 18, so I will probably be starting the liquids about a week after you. Yea!!!! Best wishes to you!!!

How about looking in the mirror and welcoming the new you. Sometimes saying hello to and welcoming something good, like a wonderful new future, is better than saying goodbye.

I think it's great what you are doing though. The best suggestion I have for someone before the pre-surgery liquid diet is to cut out as much as you can BEFORE having to do the liquid diet. The more carbs you get rid of pre-liquid diet, the easier the liquid diet is.

Also, those that spend the week before the pre-surgery liquid diet feasting or doing "last meals" seem to suffer more during the pre-surgery liquid diet. Weaning is the best way to go usually.

The day before the liquid diet, the lower your carbs the day before the liquid shake, the easier it is. Remember the first three days is usually the hardest.

Your right! I'm glad I don't have a ton of things that I had to say good bye to. I have started weaning already. We had homemade hamburger last night and I did it without the bun. Husband tried to convince me I was starting too early. But for me I know how to beat my thinking and its to start early and that is what I am trying to do. I have upped my Protein shakes to 2 a day now and eating more clean/raw foods.

My husband told me I'm going to be an angry beast lol!

I guarantee you, if you stay positive and wean you will be less of an angry beast than those that heave to wean from caffeine, pop, carbohydrates the day of liquid diet or the day of surgery.

Something that seemed to help me a lot also was calming decaff Peppermint Tea with Truvia (or your favorite artificial sweetener). It helps curb the appetite, and it was what got me through the first few days after surgery. I brought it with me to the hospital and it helped me get liquids in, because it was refreshing and even easier on me than Water.

Good luck to you. This surgery has saved my life.

You can have popcorn and steak again; at about 6 months post-op. You just won't want to eat the entire bucket or steak...a few bites and you'll be satisfied. No reason to say goodbye....it's just "see ya later"

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
