Crystal Light lemonade is my go-to for nausea. Hope you feel better. I'll never drink carbonated again. Why take the chance?

Try flat Caffeine Free Diet Coke. It actually has some potassium in it...my kids pediatrician used to recommend that when they refused Pedialyte.

Beachmommy,

I woke up in recovery with that awful chest pressure and let them know immediately since I thought I might be having a heart attack. They told that was gas. It stayed with me for several days, ever-so-slightly better each day. It would come back every time I swallowed a sip of liquid and I realized I was swallowing air. I'm almost 4 weeks out and haven't felt it for quite awhile, but I do empathize with you - it was the most difficult part of my post-op period.

However, anything with chest pressure/pain, etc. should be run by your doctor!

You can drink it for an upset stomache at 7 months out. Of course everyone has a different view on it. I've done it when I've been sick and unable to stop the naseau.

I still have tremendous restriction.

That's my personal experience. I believe the choice is yours :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
