Guess what KatFight- I have a grandaughter that's 21 and she's the younger,of the 2. So Taylor has not only a Bari-aunt she has a Bari- great aunt too. At 72 I wish also I had come to the point sooner but I intend to live the rest of my days thinner and healhier.I hope Taylor knows we all are here for her on this journey. I think it's great we can be mentors for others.

I went to my first WLS seminar when I was in my early 20’s, when lap band was the surgery of choice. I decided against it and went on to lose weight by jogging and an over reliance on exercise. Now at 37 and a knee replacement later, and I am in the process for the sleeve.

Here are a few things my doctor told me that might help.

1. If you have a family history of obesity, the chances of keeping weight off from traditional dieting is very slim.

2. If you have a BMI over 35, your body is pretty much set to that weight. Once again, you can lose but your body will fight against you and you will probably regain. (The percentage of those that keep off weight from traditional dieting is around 12% once your BMI hits 35, per my surgeon)

3. The younger you are, you have a smaller chance of skin issues after the weight loss. A lower starting BMI helps too. Take advantage of this ladies!! I am terrified, LoL

4. If you want to have children, you will have much healthier pregnancies at a lower weight. He also said you become super fertile after WLS, so you may want to be prepared for that. (That is not such a bad thing for me, when I hit my goal weight, we want to have one more kid).

BMI: 37

Height: 5’6

SW: 241

CW: 233

I hope to be at 225 when I have my surgery

I am 23 and my vsg surgery will be scheduled for May! I’m 5’2” and My highest was 230 at a gyno visit in October. I have PCOS and had just spend the last 2 months off birth control. That was big enough to scare me into finding a solution once and for all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
