11 days post op probs with protein

Recommended Posts

I am now 11 days post op and I am getting worried that I cannot consume enough Protein. Not used to my newly sized stomach and how to exactly drink. Very nervous to put anything in there except Water. Is anyone else going through this and if so are there any ideas I can try?

Protein Shakes? Are you taking them as directed? I found Unjury chocolate classic to taste good like Nestles Quik

I have been trying to get them down, but I only get about a half down and that's is when I get pain in my stomach. Thank you for the suggestion. I will definitely try it.!

Just keep drinkiing the shakes-they taste better when cold so you may have to keep refrigerating them again. Unjury makes a chicken Soup flavor that tastes good and is lighter because its Water not milk. Also I did some of the fruit Protein powders with juice which is again a little lighter. I think we are used to just drinking stuff down and not realizing that we can't anymore but even if it takes you all morning just keep working on it. Isopure is like a juice and has a ton of protein but the taste isn't good. But you got to get that protein in. Hope that helps.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
