Hey Girl! Welcome to LBT! It is a great resource, not just for information, but for friendships, and help during those tough times as well. I'm from Kentucky, I don't know your doctors, and I haven't had my surgery yet, but I'm on my way. I have more than half my tests over with so far. Good luck to you, and message me if ya wanna chat sometime. Talk to you lata. :P

Hi City Girl. I'm also going to be using Dr. George Fielding. I have my appt with the nutritionist & NP next Thursday. I've been trying to lose weight on my own, but I'm not doing very well, so I've decided to move on to the next step. I'm very nervous too, but I've only heard positive things about Dr. Fielding & Dr. Ren. I've been told they are the most experienced lapband surgeons in the US. Like you, I'll get the chance to form some of my own opinions about the practice after my office visit. I went to the seminar back in July and I liked Dr. Fielding very much, but I've never met him one-on-one.

I'm nervous too. Lot's of second guessing, but I'm gathering that's normal. Good luck. I'll be anxious to hear how things go with your office visit.

Regards... Debi

Hi Girlinnyc!

I am also from NYC and am getting my lapband with Dr.Ren. I have my surgery this Sunday (YIKES!!). All I can say so far, is that EVERYONE that I have met has been super great! Barrie - the nutritionist is nice and the nurse in the office is AWESOME!! I asked her the most questions and she was very open and nice.

I can let you know more after Sunday - I'm sure I'll have alot to say!!!

I have to admit that the liquid diet is difficult for me. It is so limiting that I haven't been going out very much.

cheers!

maureen,

i'll be thinking about you ALL DAY on sunday! i am going for the nutrionist/nurse visit tomorrow. i called insurance and this may be PAID FOR (hallelujah)==but otherwise, i'll pay for it myself.

i wish you the BEST OF LUCK and the fastest possible recovery.

how much time are you taking off from work? (if you work).

i'm sure it's going to go fine! i've had surgery before--the going to sleep part is GREAT--enjoy!

:)

hi girlin nyc!

you are so nice! thanks for thinking of me on sunday - that would be nice as i have not told anyone except my boyfriend and my business partner. it's hard not having alot of people who know because it would be nice to talk about. i just feel it's so private for me and to be honest, i can do without the judement. i know that our friends and family are not suppose to be that way, but i feel that some are and if i tell one i need to tell them all - not into it!!

anyway, i am a partner in a design studio so i work for myself - it made everything really easy - scheduling and stuff! my business partner, who is also one of my closest friends has been taking care of our insurance since we started the company 6 years ago. she is so on top of stuff that i had no problems with the insurance - we have oxford.

I will probably work from home for the week - i'm trying to wrap all my work odds and ends by tomorrow.

i have never had any surgery and i'm totally freaking out. the freak out comes and goes - it's strange!!

well, let me know how the nutritionist appt goes. they are all really nice!

thanks again for the kind words and support!!

maureen

maureen,

it's going to go fine! dr. ren is the TOP surgeon (along with dr. fielding) in this part of the world---you're in the best possible hands.

i know what you mean about not telling anyone. i'm not telling anyone at work--even my boss. i'll just be taking "vacation", which i'm entitled to--and i'll try to make it a full business week and a couple of extra days--and that should, hopefully, be enough.

don't worry about a thing--i've had surgery at nyu before--and the nurses and the operating room staff and everyone is VERY GOOD and very nice--and they're used to scared patients. so -- like i said--just ENJOY that going to sleep bit--it's the good part!

and when you're done--you'll be losing weight--the great payoff! and you won't be HUNGRY!! that's the part i'm SOOO very interested in!!

i'll write you next week, while you're recuperating and you'll tell me all about it!

yes, my nutritionist appt is today at 3:00 pm---and the nurse visit too-whatever that is for. i have my papers and photo (ugh) and i'm ready. i have some issues about having laparoscopic done on me--b/c of prior surgery, i'm worried that they won't be able to do it! but you'll be a snap--as you haven't had anything done before--i wish i was you!

talk to you soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
