Certain foods and changes

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else noticed a change in taste buds ? Also has anyone noticed not tolerating certain foods anymore ?

I noticed that I started having that prior to surgery. I think it was the 6 month diet. I literally cut out all soda and all fast food. I started experimenting with healthy foods and found some stuff that I love. Now when I have a food craving it's for hummus or bruschetta or cottage cheese and peaches. And of course I can't eat any of that yet :)

Right before my surgery I splurged and ate a steak which was awesome, but then I also tried a Wendy's cheeseburger and McDonalds fries which I have always loved, and they both tasted awful to me!!!!

It is certainly true. I used to love peach and banana flavors for most my adult life in yogurt, drinks, etc. after being sleeved, these no longer appeal to me and makes me a little nauseous. I used to love the banana creme light yogurt!!

I cat eat rice anymore. I can live pitchout it but boy, was it a learning experience

I can relate to this one. After 2 painful sessions (non consecutive of coarse) of throwing up and/or sliming after eating rice i gave it up.

I loved seafood before surgery, now shrimp doesn't taste as good. Crab makes me sick. Milk makes me sick.I was never a big fan of milk to start with. Green Beans and corn make me sick which I did like. I cant stand sugar of any type I can t stand carbonated drinks now. Haven't even tried the carbonated drinks just the thought of it gags me. Sweets tried some tea after surgery that had sugar in it after surgery and it made me sick. I liked sweet tea before surgery not anymore. I will eat stuff with chives in it now. Never liked chives. I eat stuff with onion now never liked onion before. I was always a very picky eater. My husband and I have been married almost 20 years and he is just shocked and amazed at my eating habits changing. Thanks for all the input. I don't feel alone now.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
