Although there are many who claim that there is a link between obesity and psoriasis....there really is no clinical evidence to prove the theory. There are arguments, however, that obesity exacerbates the problem and this could be due to a number of reasons.

I had eczema as a child and was diagnosed with psoriasis at the age of 19 (I'm 43 now). I did not have weight issues as a child or young adult....I became overweight after the birth of my son when I was 26. My psoriasis has remained pretty consistent throughout my life. It's fairly clear during the summer when I get more sun and flares up more during the winter when it's cold and dry. I've also tried diets where I've excluded certain foods with no success.

I've finally come to the point in my life where I'm okay with it....afterall, things could be worse!!! I've figured out how to manage it fairly well and when that doesn't work anymore....I'll try something else

Unfortunately, psoriasis is a life long condition (I hate to call it a disease). I can actually tolerate it on my arms and legs....it's my scalp that just drives me nuts!!! When it's not under control I feel like I'm snowing all over....and I live in Southern CA!!!!

I've finally found a combo that works well!!!....clobetasol/zinc spray (it's a compound) and Tarsum Shampoo. I only use the spray a couple of times a week to keep myself clear and the Tarsum is a full strength coal tar shampoo that you apply about an hour before showering. It can be purchased for about $25 on Amazon. I only use it every other time I wash my hair.

Thank you for the suggestions of clobetasol/zinc spray and Tarsum shampoo. I just ordered them and look forward to some relief. Thank you!

My father was very overweight and lost over 100 pounds using weight watchers. He also takes so many Vitamins that he has his own drawer for them. His psoriasis on his elbows has completely vanished, and he claims it's the Vitamin E pills and the Biotin he takes. But I think he might just be a miracle case

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
