how long do stalls last?

Recommended Posts

I am 4 weeks and have been in a stall for over 2 weeks. I'm just wondering how long stalls typically last. I just jeep hoping that today will be the day that it finally breaks. So frustrating!

Stalls ate super frustrating.. My order stall was at three weeks and from what I heard it was fairly common that it happens then the dreaded "week three stall" mine lasted like 3 weeks but then the scale was on the go again!!! I hope that the scale starts moving along for you too! Don't get discouraged keep eating right and drinking lots of water!! :D

Anywhere from 2 weeks to 4+months. I've only had one, but it lasted 7 weeks.

On YouTube Dr. Alvarez does a weekly video. His topic this week is the dreaded stall. It's a really good explanation and should help you feel a little bit better. (no, I don't work for him) ;-)

Stalls SUCK and are mental torture!! LOL

I stalled at week 3 and it lasted for 3 weeks... or something like that. IDK, it's been so long it's hard to remember. But I was pretty traumatized at the time! LOL

Now I am a little over 6 months out and have lost 94 lbs since surgery - 120 all together. I think I am in the midst of my second one - but I mean hey, I can't complain! That type of loss in 6 months is awesome. But I worked for it!

Your scale will start moving again - even though for some people it was impossible to do (like ME!)-- try not to weigh for a week or so - easier said than done, I know.

I was a certifiable scale wh0re - weighed twice a day - now I weigh about twice a week!

Best of luck to you!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
