Feeling crappy and out of control, I honestly... can't wait for liquid diet

Recommended Posts

So i've posted about falling off the wagon issues over the past month... and I feel like these "lasts" have taken over control... Before booking the surgery I had been reading about others struggling with the food funerals and I remember clearly saying I have no need or want for that, I don't want to de-rail my success, I want to continue my good habits until I have the surgery...

Somehow between that and 2 weeks later, I've somehow done the complete opposite

I still run 5km/3miles 4 times a week, (ok who am i trying to kid, it's like 2.9miles/4.59 km) but I'm getting there, I'm close, the program says I completed 5km but i'm just a bit off on the treadmill, I bet you if i lost the incline I'd have it already.

However, I am still happy that I am continuing my running schedule! That's the good news, the bad news is that I have GAINED 7.8'ish pounds in 1 month :| I kid you not! ( I weighed myself at night when I normally weigh myself when I do in the morning... however, I'm not using that as an excuse or Water weight, or I'm gaining muscle since 1 pound of fat/muscle/cheese etc is 1 pound.)

I honestly feel like crap, my runs have been getting a bit harder (prob due to the crap I've been eating.. and in all seriousness, i haven't been AS BAD over the past month as I have been before!!! I feel like if I look at food right now I gain weight even without consuming it!

It just seems since I lost the 26.6 pounds, it has come back SOOOOOOOOOO much easier and quicker than before. I am now sitting at a weight loss of 18.8 and no i'm NOT i refuse to update the ticker...

I honestly feel like crap, but cant help myself from doing my lasts... how bad was everyone else's food funerals? Did everyone else gain a substantial amount of weight pre-liquid diet? I know a few of you are super strict with wanting to loose a certain amount before their surgery date.. and I know that some enjoyed their food funeral or wish they did more since I've read a few crave what they didnt have for their funerals... I know that everyone is different

MY FEAR! I over the next 2 weeks and 6 days... lets just say hypothetically.... I get up to 260 pounds... which is NOT far off from now (254.4) The amount on my sheet I submitted to the surgeon was 249 (I later got down to 246.6 but they dont know that!) ... even if I was to lose 10 pound on my liquid diet... I'd get back down to 250... how bad would I look walking into surgery the same as what I said I was in November after completing a 2 week liquid diet? !?!?!?! I was hoping to go in at 240...

ugh... Im stressed... I should have never got on that scale last night. I seriously have thoughts of running over it with my suv :|

So my questions for those who are pre-op.... are you feeling the same way I am? are you gaining your last few weeks? or am I the only one who broke down?

My question for those who are post op, please tell me i'm not the only one who's gained 10 pounds ish before liquid diets? how bad were your food funerals?

Have you considered starting the liquid diet early? If you really feel out of control and worried about losing before surgery, it's certainly an option. Also, try to keep in mind that the surgery doesn't mean that you'll never be able to eat what you like again, just less (although there are certain things that I plan to try to never/hardly ever eat again for my health and you may feel the same). My surgery is one month from today and I have had some food funerals, but I really do limit myself to only doing it once a day, if at all, and I'm also having a Protein Shake for Breakfast to offset any bad eating that I might do later in the day. This seems to be working. I had gained a few pounds from the food funerals before I set the once a day limit and started the Protein shake for breakfast, but I actually lost 4 pounds the last time I stepped on the scale. Best of luck to you!

I actually did consider starting earlier (5 days, I was thinking Jan 2nd) to start the liquid diet, but the rate I'm going... I honestly don't know if I can do it until I HAVE to, know what I mean?

I do know what you mean, which is why I can only commit to doing the Protein shake for breakfast right now--that, and the holidays. Maybe you could try it just for one meal, like me? Also, I don't know if it matters, but I generally reserve lunch for food funerals and try to have a sensible dinner with the thinking that it's better to be active after eating crap.

How sad is it that we're looking forward to NOT eating? lol

Tonight I've prepared brusel sprouts and sweet potatoes etc for dinner tomorrow... hoping that if I pre-plan and make or have them at least semi started it will de-rail the last minute ideas to pick up a favorite on the way home... That way I'll just have to make the chicken tomorrow and ta-da a healthier dinner that I enjoy very much.

After Friday, I am off for 2 weeks... so lunch might work for the food funerals.... I do know that when I am off, it is worse... I am hoping to throw in a few work out classes over my 2 weeks off so hopefully that will help a bit. I also will generally not leave the house if I don't have a reason to go somewhere... hopefully this will also help with the bad food!

In the evenings after supper so like now 'ish is when I run 4 times a week. This week I was going to do 5 since I was sick last week and only got in 3... although... I just ran the past 3 days in a row... think I'm starting to burn out

I had my surgery on Wednesday 12-12-12. First visit to the Dr. was great by the second visit I had gained 3 lbs. The Dr. would only do my surgery if I lost 10 lbs. prior so she knew I was committed to losing weight. So now I had to lose 13 lbs. Ugh.... The pre-op diet was 3 Protein Shakes and one Lean Cuisine meal that was between 200 - 230 calories. I lost 14 lbs in just 2 weeks, schudled my surgery had 2 days of clear liquid only and had a very successful surgery. Coulnd't be happier off my high blood pressure meds and have lost a total of 29 lbs. since this whole life style change started. You will be so much happier when you start the pre op diet you will feel wonderful. Best of Luck to you!!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
