Mine leak test was like that only about 3 weeks postop. The surgeon let me see the whole thing and explained it all to me, just like in this video. I was so impressed that I didn't care that the stuff tasted awful and i took 2 extra sips just so I could see it again.

So when we overeat, our food gets backed up in the esophagus and that's why it hurts so much.

Great video!

Yeah I lived this lol. Were you guys asleep when you had your leak test.

Some surgeons don't do leak tests, some ppl here are still pre op. personally, not only did I live it, I was given a DVD of mine.

Great video!!!

I was in the ER over a week ago with a kidney stone and they did an abdominal x-ray and a CT of my abdomen and I kept asking the techs and docs if I could look at the films to see my sleeve! Nobody would let me. I think they thought I was joking. My doc didn't do a leak test so I wondered what it looked like!

Thanks for posting!!!

I loved that video! My surgeon gave me a snapshot photo album of the surgery except no photos of the staples or end result so I've been dying to know what my sleeve looks like. I wonder why they didn't let me watch the monitor as I was taking the leak test. That would have helped me realize how small the sleeve actually is! No wonder I eat like a bird!

I dont understand these surgeons who didn't do a leak test. I would be scared out of my mind to leave the hospital without one.

Mine didn't. He said he didn't particularly find them helpful. What might not be leaking at the moment the test is done, could leak afterwards.

It didn't bother me at all.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
