I am 6 days post op and just curious.... when are you supposed to become "regular" with BMs?

Hopefully I am not the norm but my BM's have never been the same since surgery. I am 3 and a half months out and still have problems with constipation. I take a magnesium supplement to counter act. But I have heard on here it takes about two weeks to get regular. It was hard for me not to stress but the doctor told me it could be up to two weeks before I have a BM. All the best to you with your recovery.

Thank you CO! My roommate also brought to my attention that it could be the liquid vicodin they gave. I've taken about once a day since the surgery because of the stiffness in my back from having to constantly sleep on it.

You are welcome. Hope you feel better soon! Sounds like the vicodin could be a culprit. I only got ibuprofen for the pain.

I use the equate brand fiber powder and it's been working great. I put it in my protein shakes and water. I'm still going every other day. I hate constipation because it always makes my butt bleed and it hurts so bad but now it's better with the fiber powder. I take it 3 times a day.

I had surgery 11/14. It took 12 days after to have a BM. It was very watery. went for a few days. Now i am 10 days without. Taking mirilax. no luck so far. Never had a problem pre ~ surgery..good luck to you all..

I am almost 4 weeks out & still get constipated.going to look for chia seeds where do you get them?

I buy them pre ground now and they gel fairly quickly when compared to whole seeds. Tried to grind them myself' date=' but was not getting anywhere because their size is so small. Either form of chia helps with regularity very well in addition with helping the body preserve Water on long runs (greater than 30 min in length). Good luck.[/quote']

Where do you buy them ground up?

I buy them on Amazon.com. Most ground up chia seed product offerings are sold in 6 oz size.

Thanks for the information.

Sure, no problem. These seeds take the miracle out of miralax. Try them out and see if things improve shortly.
