Carewise is taking forever!

Recommended Posts

I was finished with Carewise on November 16th and the medical director has had my file since the 30th so they say. I was told that I would have an answer by last Wednesday at the latest. I am so tired of waiting. I just want an answer. They return my calls Every time I call but I just get the same old story. They have scheduled my pre op call and my post op call yet I have no approval or surgery date.

I fully understand your frustration. I had to jump through so many hoops to get this approved. I was fortunate the actual final approval only took about 1 1/2 weeks - but getting to that point took forever! Just hang in there!

They returned my phone call from this morning and of course I got the same story. The medical director has had my chart for almost 2 weeks. How long does it take to review? Should I be worried? I was told that it would take no more than two weeks to be approved and here I am almost 1 month later.

Have you heard anything?

They finally called me a week ago and questioning the antidepressant that I take. She said that the social worker said I was not depressed and that was conflicting information. She ordered me to have a pshychiatrict evaluation by an actual pshychiatrist. I had that done Monday and now my chart is back in the hands of the medical director. They made it sound like I was going to be approved as long as I have that Eval. I was hoping to hear back before Christmas but no luck. Thanks for asking.

I went through the same thing except it was the dr office. I am bipolar and had to jump through extra hoops. I didn't need an official evaluation but my therapist had to answer questions and subkit something. Then - after I did all of that and got approval from Aetna - the dr office made me go to my regular dr about the meds. This was at the last moment as I was trying to get surgery before the end of the year. She could have told me in the beginning when I found out all the hoops. Hang in there!

Congrats! When do you start your liquid diet?

I am pretty sure that it is just the day before surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
